Homemade Caramel Sauce

You’ll Need:

1 c. sugar
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. butter
2/3 c. heavy cream

How To:

In a heavy-bottomed 3-quart sauce pan, heat sugar and water over moderately high heat, whisking constantly to dissolve sugar.

Once mixture reaches a boil, stop whisking and allow it to boil until it reaches a dark amber color, carefully swirling the pan occasionally.

Add the butter and whisk until the butter has melted, then immediately remove from heat.

Wait 3 seconds, then immediately pour in cream, whisking constantly. It will bubble!

Whisk until the mixture is smooth.

Once the mixture is cool enough, pour into a glass container and store chilled.
