Apple Crisp

You’ll Need:

1/2 c. + 2 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. oats
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
8 tbsp. butter
2 lbs. apples
3 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. nutmeg

How To:

Preheat oven to 375F. In a mixing bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup flour, oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.

Dice 1/3 cup butter and rub into dry mixture until it comes together in small crumbles.

Transfer to refrigerator to chill while preparing apples and sauce.

Peel all apples and discard skins.

Core apples and cut into slices or cubes (depending on personal preference). Set aside.

Melt remaining butter and, in a small mixing bowl, combine with flour until well-blended. Add water, lemon juice, and vanilla.

Stir in remaining brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Lay cut apples at the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Pour the sauce mixture evenly on top.

Sprinkle the topping mixture evenly on top of apples.

Place in preheated oven and bake until apples are tender and top is golden brown, about 35 minutes.

Remove from oven and serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
