Banana Bread

You’ll Need:

5/8 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 egg
3/4 cup mashed, very ripe bananas
1/4 cups buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)


How To:

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease bottom of loaf pan.

Mix sugar and butter in a large bowl. Stir in eggs until well-blended. Add bananas, buttermilk, and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Stir in flour and baking soda just until moistened. Stir in nuts/chocolate chips if desired. Pour into pan.

Bake for about 1 hour, or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from oven.

Cool 10 minutes. Loosen sides of loaves from pans; remove from pans and place top-side-up on a cooling rack. Cool completely, about 2 hours, before slicing for best results.

Wrap tightly and store at room temperature for 4 days or refrigerate up to 10 days.
